Car Projects

1978 Datsun 280Z

My first car project: a 1978 Datsun 280Z. My brother and I began this project while in high school in 2013. I still own this car today.

  • Engine swapped to late 90’s 4-cyl turbo SR20DET

  • Full 3 in. exhaust

  • Adjustable coil-overs installed on all 4 corners

  • Most engine hoses and suspension bushings replaced

  • Interior restored - custom switch panel, new gauges, new carpet, seats re-upholstered

  • Many small custom fabrication projects on this car. For example: a custom hood-latch catch mount welded with my wire-feed flux-core welder with scrap mild steel

1996 Ford F250

Purchased in 2018 with 120k miles, the truck now has close to 200k miles. 460 big block with fuel injection. After acquiring this truck, things were constantly breaking so I’ve completed countless fixes/upgrades. I replaced just about everything that could fail, so now the truck runs great with no issues.

  • Replaced: both fuel pumps, all 4 shocks, water pump, timing gears + chain, exhaust mani gaskets, air pump, alternator, starter motor, many sensors, speakers + radio, etc.

  • Most ignition system parts replaced as I troubleshooted a very difficult no-spark issue for many weeks. Sharpened my electrical troubleshooting skills a great amount

    • Forum post I made to help others with this extremely frustrating problem: Click Here

  • Custom exhaust welded up with V-bands

1987 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Purchased in 2021. I am close to restoring this 80’s time machine to like-new condition. Equipped with a small block V8, the Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, and rare 5 speed manual.

  • Rebuilt and tuned world's most sophisticated carburetor: the Rochester Quadrajet Electronic E4ME Carb. This carb has 4 barrels, a mechanical choke with engine temp and vacuum reference, mechanical high idle system, secondary’s that open under certain conditions, accelerator pump, throttle position sensor (TPS), and electronic fuel metering valves which adjust based on the O2 sensor in exhaust and the ECU.

  • Interior restored from absolute mess to pretty damn clean

  • Replaced front and rear sway bar end links, tranny mount, alternator, fixed electrical issues, etc.

2008 Yamaha YZ250F

Purchase in 2021, this Yamaha has provided a lot of fun on the trails, tracks, and in the garage for bike work.

  • Rebuilt carburetor with fresh internals and hoses. Tuned for smooth riding and easy kick-start

  • Rebuilt top-end (new piston, rings, seals)

  • Rebuilt the KYB front forks with Zeta free piston upgrade and new seals

  • Valves shimmed to factory specs

  • Replaced handle bar components and other misc. parts for a factory restoration

  • Painted valve cover with red crinkle paint… like a Ferrari

  • New graphics and yellow plastics like the old school Yamaha’s

1992 BMW 735i (E32)

Purchased in 2016 and sold in 2018. Incredible 90’s luxury 4-door with the “Big 6” 3.5L inline six engine. Brand new, this was a ~$50,000 car, but I found it for $1,800 on Craigslist.

  • Cooling system fixed and replaced after it completely failed on me

  • Replaced fuel pump, door handles, gauge cluster, window switches, front seat reclining broken parts, etc.

1994 Audi Quattro

Purchased in 2014 and sold in 2015. This car was an honor to own because of its legendary status in motorsports: racing in the German DTM series in the 90’s. These Quattro V8’s would routinely beat the BMW E30 M3’s and Mercedes-Benz 190E Cosworth’s.

Amazing DOHC V8 paired to the Quattro AWD system and a 5 speed manual… in a 4 door sedan! This thing could do 4-wheel donuts on loose asphalt with 4 people in the car.

  • Replaced a number of components under the hood

  • Restored interior

  • Unfortunately had to sell because of too many issues. It needed bottom end engine work to fix an oil-burning issue
